This ASUS VT207N review talked about the good, bad and the ugly of this ASUS

The ASUS VT207N is a new release from ASUS and is a pretty cheap option for those looking for an affordable desktop monitor. If you bought a desktop recently with Windows 8 and above installed in it, then you should be very interested in this. Read our review to know more about this touchscreen monitor.

The monitor comes with a simple design. It won’t take up a lot of space in your room and will fit both office and home environment. With measurements of 21.8 x 5 x 16.5 inches it weighs around 9 pounds which is lighter than most monitors out there. The monitor is also VESA compliant meaning we can detach the stand at the bottom and mount the display on the wall as we’ve seen in shopping malls and receptions of various offices.

The monitor is 19.5 inches wide with a resolution of 1600 x 900 pixels. This is better than the standard HD resolution as it carries more pixels. You won’t be able to find any pixels, which is good for your viewing experience. The 10-point touch input is a really nice addition and leads to an intuitive user experience. The fact that it supports both 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios makes it perfect for media consumption.

The ASUS VT207N monitor comes with a smart contrast ratio of 100000000:1 which is very good at this price point. You will be able to observe the deepest blacks and the brightest whites, thanks to this contrast ratio. Watching movies and playing games will be excellent as the colors will be more true to life.

The response time of 5ms is very good especially when playing games and watching sports. You will not be able to see any ghosting effects due to the fast moving objects in the screen. This is a very important feature for any monitor and this one doesn’t disappoint us there.

Connectivity options include a DVI port, a VGA port and also a USB port. All these are quick connectivity options and can serve you well. But there is no HDMI port which can be disappointing to some of you.

The monitor comes with advanced power saving features which makes it meet environmental standards like RoHS, Energy Star and TCO. You can be happy that your monitor doesn’t stress the environment on its own. It isn’t a big thing but can surely contribute to something for the future.

      Amazing.

The thin mounting stand was adjustable in a range of different directions, which made it fairly easy to put the monitor in portrait or landscape mode. That capability, coupled with the fact that ASUS also provides Picture By Picture (PBP) support for up to four input sources at once, had me imagining using the ASUS in all sorts of cool multitasking scenarios, such as multiple work and play Google Hangout or Skype sessions with friends, family and co-workers in my own homegrown version of a Hollywood Squares tic-tac-toe game show. The reality for me, as you'll see later, was more Hoboken than Hollywood, since I ran into numerous configuration and installation hassles getting the PBP feature to work.

As I mentioned, one of the selling points of the ASUS is PBP support for up to four input sources at once. One of those input sources might very well be for a PC game and, not being a gamer myself, I asked Wes Fenlon, the Hardware Editor for our sister site PC Gamer to deliver a more professional opinion about the display's gaming suitability. Wes put down the broadsword he was carrying around the office long enough to explain that the most important requirement for gaming is response time. For monitors, he said, there are two components. One is the pixel response time or how fast the pixel can go from on to off and change colors. Slower than 10 milliseconds response time and you'll start to see some kind of ghosting when things on your screen are moving really quickly. "There's also input lag," Wes said, "which is basically how long it takes a command to appear on the screen when you move your mouse."

      Great!!

This monitor has a gorgeous display. Image quality is great, it looks fantastic. I can't say enough about it. Touch screen is responsive and works well. The screen is high gloss. I always used to hate it when people would come up and point to something on my screen and then touch it! This is one screen I won't have to worry about that. One thing I like about ASUS is that the build of the screen appears to be very high quality.

I researched and read everything I possibly could about ASUS, products, customer reviews, tech mags and blogs, and company information when shopping for a new PC a few months ago. It is NOT a cheap "best saver" brand or company like Acer, for instance. They have high accolades in consumer electronics and I would pick ASUS over Dell or HP products easily.

First, this has BIG aesthetics, sleek, sturdy scored base and has almost a Star Trek aspect to it. It won't tip over easily at all, and when you adjust the angle of the screen, it glides amazingly smooth, nothing catches or creeks. It is these kinds of things that show you the quality aspect in this brand. No cheap plastics or hinges.

I used this to replace an older Dell 17" LED screen. Taking it out of the box, the first thing I noticed was how light it was compared to the one I was replacing. It was also about 1/2" thinner but it was a little smaller than I expected. It comes with all the necessary cables.

Compatible with Windows 8 and is Energy Star Certified (Aren't most LED screens?). I found the screen very responsive compared to those I have tried in the past on display, & the resolution with photos all I would ever need and clear and beautiful. Like a Sony HD tv. I have never owned a touch screen so my tech knowledge is limited, you will have to seek out the true tech geeks on the those questions I won't pretend.

You can tap, drag, pinch, zoom with your fingers like touch screens on your tablets and smart phones. Printing photos is easy as there is a cool onscreen grid you choose for photo size and view actual print size before sending to printer. No printer boxes to open. Comes with DVI cable, VGA cable & USB cable so not going to get gigged having to buy the cords for it. Note this model is not HDMI. ASUS is a brand worth looking into for your new monitor.
