I delivered over 400 books and picked up only £85 of orders. This earns me £17.00. A lot of the books were soaked and some looked like they had been thrown out of the door 5 minutes after I left.To be honest it was not worth the effort.
Having had no success looking for jobs for other companies, I came across an advert for Betterware and it all seemed appealing.
Therefore I got in contact with a coordinator who showed me the ins and outs of Betterware, what the job entailed etc. Came back later that week to provide my start-up equipment including catalogues, bags and slips to fill out personal details on for customer orders. One upside was that there was no upfront cost. Easily took up 1-2 hours to do 150 catalogues.
Having not been provided any bags or a trolley to carry around the catalogues I had to go and buy my own trolley at my own cost, still optimistic I would soon be making enough cash to pay it off easily- where I was wrong.
Anyway went out to deliver catalogues, took around 2 hours. Went 2 days later to do call-backs to those who had not left out catalogues to receive a few more orders. This week alone I had made around £100 meaning at 20% commission, which I thought great! Not ideal for single mothers unless they are willing to put a good few hours of work into it in all weather conditions and a lot of physical work.
However when processing the orders it turned out around £20 of orders were out of stock. Obviously could not be helped but still.
This took down my weekly earnings to around £16 so I was disappointed, especially as this was the same price as the trolley!!
Continued this job for a few months then lost motivation and got unwell. Some weeks I got 0 orders but apparently this was due to the season. Of course you get the rude people complaining about you giving them catalogues but at the end of the day it's a catalogue, not a bomb!!! Coordinator was a bit slow and it often took a few weeks to get the orders back meaning I had unhappy customers calling me at silly hours of the night/morning but cannot be helped, had one unhappy customer calling after I'd left as their order had not been delivered over a month later. They said they were calling head office and complaining but once I'd left this was out of my control.
Overall the job has some ups and downs. Would have to put in a lot of hours to make enough money to live off but most weeks I'd earned more money doing chores, wages more like pocket money for children! You might be lucky to be given an area with lots of customers.
Hello Everyone. I have just registered with this forum because I would like to make the general public aware of a very new and appalling situation that has just happened to me in the last day.
So 3 weeks ago I applied to become a betterware catalogue distributor. I am currently out of work at the moment and have been for some time, so I was looking for something which would get me into a routine and earn a few extra pennies. I applied to some work from home positions and got a call from Betterware. The interviewer who came to my address, xxx, would be my co-ordinator, the man who delivers books and order forms to me each week to deliver to customers.
We got on really well for the first 2 weeks, and I worked hard to deliver as many books as I could possibly do, and in my first week made about £114. I would receive 20% of this amount. On Monday 19th he came over to deliver the customer goods for me to deliver. On the Friday beforehand I went to collect my books that I had delivered on the Tuesday. About 80% of customers threw their books away, so I only got back around 20 books out of 105.
When xxx popped round on Monday I asked him if he could possibly deliver some more books to me, as I only had 34 books and next week is Betterwares "BIG WEEK" where if you reach orders over £300 you get 22% commission as opposed to 20%. I informed him that customers has thrown their books away which is why I had so little books, to which he responded "Well I will have to deliver some more at some point this week but really you should just go through people's bins and see if the books are there and just grab them out if they are."... What? Did I just hear that right? You want me to go through people's bins?! Because I am not a person who deals well with conflict, I nodded, said okay and shut the door, obviously point blank refusing to go through customers bins.
I delivered my first bunch of orders to the customers yesterday. (Tuesday 20th). A couple of the customers were not home, which bummed me out a little bit because it was raining and cold, and I don't drive so I just wanted to get home in the warm. I got to the point where I had had enough. I had not heard from xxx about him delivering me any more books for the Big Week. I was cold, wet, hungry, and had made little money for a fair amount of hard work. On the positive side, I had been offered a FT job elsewhere, so I had no choice. I text xxx to tell him that I would be resigning. Below is the correspondence between us.
((ME)) "I know I have only just signed the agreement, but I've been offered a FT job and I am gonna take it which means I am gonna have to resign as a distributor. It's a stable income, plus 2 of the houses I've just tried to deliver to won't answer their doors. I thought this would be different to what it is. I will deliver next weeks orders to the customers and then I will have to call it a day I am afraid.
((xxx)) Ok thanks for telling me. I hope you will still be putting books out this week for the big week next week."
((ME)) "I'm afraid not as I only have 34 books. I was going to put out hundreds but I need to get focused for new job. "
((xxx)) Ok I will come over on Thursday and get any goods you still have, sorry but I need to have the areas working for me."
((ME)) "Will I still receive payment for the orders I have done. I make it out to be roughly £36.24 that I have made. "
((xxx)) "You'll get paid for what you've delivered"
((ME)) "Okay will I be delivering the goods to next weeks customers, seeing as I did get the orders from customers so therefore I can deliver them next week, or this week if he had the orders."
((xxx)) "I shouldn't have processed either because they were both below minimum order value of £200 and I have to pay for my fuel. I only get £6 for your order it's not worth it I would rather deliver it myself".
xxx never mentioned a £200 minimum value order, and he stated that he will pick up money that I have worked for.
Angered by this message, I responded that
((ME)) "it is really wrong that you will be getting money for work I have done. Regardless of the amount, it puts food on the table for my family."
The money I earnt was pocket money for my Step Daughter for being amazingly well behaved and extremely helpful. All kids deserve a little reward right?
((xxx)) "Well I won't order your stuff at all coz it's under £200 sorry."
((xxx)) "When I say I won't order your stuff I mean anyone's stuff as I have to have a minimum order of £400 to be considered by betterware as I have had another distributor off ill"
((ME)) "I have earned 22.95 in that case seeing as you will not order my orders. You never made me aware of the under £200 minimum so that is not my fault or problem. I earned that money so I should be entitled to it. I will take my £22.95 out of the money and leave the rest with you along with the order forms and books e.t.c. I will not be answering my door. Pretty disgusted that you can take money from someone who has made effort into making it, even if it is only a small amount.
((xxx)) "When will you be doing this as you are liable, I need to give you a receipt for the cash and cheque and it shows your 20% commission.
((ME)) "I'll leave it outside on Thursday evening when you pick it up. Put receipt through letterbox or something.
((xxx)) "When I have finally processed your orders with my minimum order of £400 and delivered them Ill put 10% of the commission through your door"
((ME)) "Ermmm No that is not how it works.. I get 20% commission that' what is agreed therefore I should be getting at least £22.95. If you're processing the order from yesterday (Monday 19th) it will be a further 13 quid.
((xxx)) "Yes you get your 20% commission from your deliveries this week and your £60 order from yesterday when and if I process them. I'm willing to post 1/2 your commission as you've given me NO notice regarding leaving, and not willing to deliver any books this week which I will now need to find cover for.
((ME)) "Well I'm certainly not delivering books for you now. You haven't bothered to deliver me any new ones or made arrangements with me as to when you will deliver them. I will be taking my 20% commission and that's final, That money I have worked hard for and I will not accept any less that 20%."
((xxx)) "That's what I said"
((ME))"No you stated you'd give me 10% commission. So what is it?!"
((xxx))"Take your 20% commission from the goods that you've sold, not on things that are left over if you've not sold everything I'll come over on Thursday Morning between 10-11AM if your leaving money outside it is YOUR responsibility if it goes missing.
I have tried contacting his manager today to make them aware of the situation. I know not much can be done as it is a "Cash in hand job". I'm not after legal advice, I am making it clear that this company obviously don't give much care into how they pick their staff, nor how they treat their customers, as I have seen many bad and negative statements towards betterware on forums in the few days. His manager will be returning my call hopefully within the next day or 2. If I have had no response I am going to be calling them back, and I will not stop until something is done about xxx and his lack of professional manner.
Please feel free to post your opinions and any advice you might have on this situation. Again this is just to make the general public aware that working for betterware is not as glorious as they make it out to be.
Well I started betterware almost three years ago and for all the work I put in I made a loss of around £100. My coordinator promised me all these bonuses but over three years I never earned any. I was given a patch to work on and was told to put out 200 books every week and that would bring me in sales of around £200 of course it didnt work out that way most weeks I found it hard to get even £100 of sales. If I wasnt bringing in enough sales for the area they would then take more area from me.
When I finally started to get regular customers(after a lot of hard work) the coordinator would then shift me to a new area meaning I had to leave the customers that I had built up and start working in a new area meaning I was now back to square one. I have now figured out that what he was doing was getting me to build up an area for him to come in and take over . I decided it wasnt worth my while as most weeks I didnt even earn £50 and I was having to keep finding new customers all the time.
Well I did get to know a lot of people the only advantage but I think the only people making any money are the ones who have been in it right from the beginning as they are at the top of the pyramid. My coordinator was making sales of around £800 per week as he could work all the vacant areas and then get commission of all the distributors sales on top of his own. I now have figured out why noone stays as a distributor it is so time consuming AND quite frankly you could earn more by being a busker.
Now that I have quit I will put my spare time to much better use.
hi, im new here, ive read many reviews, great and not so great about betterware. ive been a distributor since sept 94. having read these many reviews, i agree with them, the good ones and the not so good ones. yes, it is hard work. any person who is looking to make a quick buk, without wanting to do much hard work is going to be left feeling disappointed and grumpy. heres the gist of the first working week for the new distributor:- day 1, get those books out as soon as you can, day 2/3, collect the books in and repost them immediately, day 3/4 collect books in and repost them immediately, repeat this process and by the next week you will have an order that will be collected by your c.o. of course, the value of your order is not guaranteed at all, not one bit, so you should never be mislead by claims and hearsay that high and quick earnings are easily achieved, and those are the very words that betterware do use as a warning to anyone who hopes otherwise, the agent who is interviewing you must tell you this and also that you must be prepared to get out there and work for it, come rain, shine, snow, wind and all. but, the hours are open to negotiation between you, but you will be asked to commit to at least 10-12, so thats the first week done. your c.o comes to see you on the agreed day and time to collect your order. oh i should mention that as your new to this, your c.o will insist that you call them at least midweek to give them your sales so far, this is also a good time to ask for advice if needed. so on collection of your order, your co will first explain the main order form that you have to fill out every week. when your co leaves you will be provided with a top up of books and stationary. oh i forgot to say that the streets you have are yours to cover. that area is yours, exculsively, and this is discussed beforehand anyway. and off you go again, another week of doing books, until another week is over and you see your co again, only this time, she/he brings you your goods!!!!!! now then, this where you have to start to organise your time more. you now have deliveries to do, plus, books to post and collect. it is doable. it is possible. it is realistic. it is a job. the question is, do you want to do it? are you prepared to bring your work home? are you prepared to accept the not so good days, because you will get them. im not going to dress this up. it does help if you are a people person. a patient person. and you must be prepared to retrace your steps. it can be very frustrating. but in the coming months, if your the right person for this job, i can guarantee that you will not want to do anything else. there are distributors who do this 'on foot' we call it, i.e. without a car. i do not know how they do it, but they do, ive heard of plently. i thankfully, have my own car. i am a single mum and the flexibility was and still is the attraction for me, but it has not been easy. i was more than happy earning £25 when i first started!!!!! now i earn up to £100, but it takes time to get established. read the above what i wrote before. DO NOT ENTER INTO THIS FOR A QUICK BUCK OR EASY EARNINGS. but if flexibility is what you are after, this is spot on. to be honest, i think that is where people fall into this, and have nothing but bad things to say, because they have heard, or read that is easy money. you know, if you do get high value orders in your first few weeks, i will say you are just lucky and you must not be complacent about it. beginners luck i would say. you can do as little or as much as you want, but all betterware do ask for is at least 10-12 hours a week. so youve done your deliveries and books for the week and your co comes again!!! now the first thing to be done is the money. 20% of the final sales, is yours. and then come the usual bits, more books and stationary and more deliveries!!!!! and you keep on going and going. so what you waiting for!!! give it a go and see if its for you. as you get yourself established you will settle into your own way of working.
Well i would not have put this in this category, i would have put it in its own section, but dooyoo have told me to post it here, so here is a review on the betterware dish cloth airer.
I bought one of these years ago from the bettaware catalogue. It cost me £4 from the bloke who came round. I thought this might be a good idea to have as my cloths were always scrunched up into little balls and needed properly washing or new ones every few weeks.
In theory it was good but it did seem to take up quite a lot of room on my draining board and I found I was having to move things around to be able to keep this sat on my sink. I eventually moved it onto the window sill which seemed to be a better place for it, although the water from the cloth tended to leak on my windowsill, as when it was on the draining board it would just drain off into the sink, so I had to keep washing my window sill down to remove the water.
The airer is made of plain wire and is quite thick to touch and does rest pretty well and is sturdy to hold the weight of your cloths. I have had a dripping wet cloth on the airer and it has held the weight of it.
Although I do think it can be a good item to have it is something that I did get rid of as it just seemed to get in my way. Maybe my draining board was too small but I just did not seem to have enough room for it, so I went back to just leaving the cloths on the side of the sink and giving them a good wash and bleach out every few weeks, it seemed better in the long run, like I said though others may have a different opinion.
Well I became an area co-ordinator for Betterware and although my regional co-ordinator said it was my county that was the issue, she did drop a few clangers with things that she said.
Firstly if you get any distributors you are very lucky but if you decide to distribute yourself you can earn 34% not just the 14% of all your distributors however for all you possible distributors out there you can put out 600 catalogues you'll probably get 100 back if you are lucky and that's a lot of work to get those out. They go on about this average of £1 per book but what they don't tell you is that's not on books delivered that's books collected and they doctor things like say you've been on holiday if you don't get a single order so all the statistics are flawed.
They then decide to put a £250 minimum order and believe me you've got no chance unless you've got 10 distributors working under you and meanwhile you're upsetting the customers who have placed an order as they are having to wait till you get the min order value, so they won't use you again that's if they want the goods after such a long wait!
My regional co-ordinator reckoned she'd made a living for 18 years on this however she then told me she didn't have a mortgage as her parents had bought her the house she lived in and obviously the higher up the chain in Betterware the more money you are getting.
There is a reason Kleeneze have start up fees and that's because you are guaranteed an income as people buy from them.
There is a reason Avon charge for items and again it's because you are guaranteed an income.
Betterware, I agree with another reviewer "BETTER OFF WITHOUT THEM"
Reading the forty or so reviews on this subject has prompted me to produce a reply. I will come clean and admit I am an area co-ordinater with the company and as such my opinion may be biassed. There are equally good and bad reviews on this page many of which are blatently intended to rubbish the company, presumably written by desperate Kleeneze agents who after tripping over each other on the doorstep have come to target the opposition whilst others are writing with the intention of promoting betterware as an opportunity.
My intention here is to provide the facts as honestly and as up to date as i can. First of all I'll start with the catalogue, each catalogue runs for about six weeks although dont worry if yours is older they are "live" for several months this means that you are still able to order from previous cats. There are about a thousand products in each issue all of which are fully guarrenteed, some reviewers have suggested there are cheaper alternatives in discount stores how do you think discounters get their stock? Betterware commisions, tests and rejects hudreds of items which then end up as pound lines because they dont perform satisfactorily.
Rewards are at the time of writing twenty percent of total sales value this is deducted from the distributors invoice after sale of the goods ie week 1 orders of £200. week 2 goods delivered to disi,
disi then delivers goods deducts 20% = £40 and settles bill £ 160 on next service call week 3. there are several bonus schemes in operation which can increase earnings as well as the opportunity to buy your own goods at reduced cost.
The business, yes it is a business everyone working at ground level is operating his/her own business however small it might be and as such you cant really put an hourly rate on it. does a shop owner close on tuesdays and watch telly all day? no he's at the cash and carry stocking up for the week. unpaid hours filling in paperwork are just par for the course and, with time, become easier, my own order forms are recycled and stored in day order so i select the stack for say thursday pick up to include in the cat. Earnings are statistically calculated at head office and are in my opinion generally correct although that said we do have to bear in mind that some areas are better than others, again it is a business and we dont assess profit on a weekly basis. The work does become easier after time, keeping records of 'dont wants' and ' never get backs' reduces the amount of books put out in future. Yes you do have to call back on many addresses to get your book back after all the catalogue is the selling tool and without tools you cant do the job, but with good record keeping this is eventually minimalised.
The customers are the people we are interested in and they are what makes the job worthwhile. There is a Betterware fan club out there and they enthuse religiously about our products this enables me to gain valuable feedback whilst personalising their shopping experience and solidifying our buyer seller relationship I will often refer to a product bought bought months ago ( yes you do remember them) ask them how its working or did it do the job well, this creates trust and often freindships as well as an outlet for the housebound (spent thirty minutes in an old ladys house the other day and came away with a £1.99 order so what, makes me feel good and shes had a chat and got the fridge drain unblocked) on the other hand there are the others those who dont want our books and have nothing to do but berate you for posting it, these are few and far between and as stated above can be avoided after initial posting.
The typical distributor cannot be classified as they are from every walk of life in a recent co-ordinater meeting three out of four in my work group held degrees whilst the other was an extreme competitor (he had to be the best or die trying) we all came into the business as distributors and have expanded to become co-ordinaters many of our disis are students many retired and a whole lot more who do the job to fill spare time profitably, the main identifying factor is that we are all triers, the only way to make money is to work for it and any body promoting a get rich quick scheme is probably only after your money.
i have been a betterware distributor for about four weeks, 300 catalouges a week if you are lucky you might get half back a lot of people cannot be bothered to put to return the calolouges just put them in the green bin as for orders it is a waste of time the actuall commision earned is £49.50 for delivery collection orders delivery money collection and paperwork why do you think that in the back of the catalouge there is a page where you can order by phone, or online you get nothing for that
Having had many problems over the years and always being on the look out for products which will overcome all them off line shopping came to the rescue.
Having used cheap can openers and found all were equally annoying and useless a look through a Betterware catalogue dropped through my letter box seemed to have an answer. But £15 seemed a lot of money for a can opener. Then one day after yet another failed attempt at opening a can enough was enough. It was time to ordered a can opener from Betterware after all other products purchased had been so good, looking forward to my delivery day the catalogue was put out side my door.
Also needed four AA batteries so they were ordered as well and at only £2.50 compared with £4 at Sainsbury and £1 for flat ones at the pound store!
It was a good move as top quality batteries were needed the instructions said when the product arrived the following Thursday. The batteries easily popped in and then it was time to look for a can. An old can of grapefruit was lying in the cup board so on the can opener went held in place by a magnet.
The push of one button and the can opener went around in about 30 seconds another push of the button and it stopped again.
The can opener is then lifted with the lid on its base. Amazing a perfectly opened can on my first attempt at using the brilliant Betterware can opener.
Since then using my can opener when ever it was needed has been with the understanding that it will always work perfectly and only take 30 seconds or less to open a can.
Another product to look out for is the frying pan. Over the last ten years one frying pan after the other has been thrown out because of poor results.
I dreaded having to fry any food. The pan would be useless after wards would loose its coating or be marked in some other way go rusty when washed.
A last result was ordering the Betterware Frying Pan at £15 although expensive to me.
When it arrived the following Thursday it seemed very light.
Trying it out for the first time was amazing it heated up so quickly to fry a perfect egg and has continued to fry perfectly ever since.
Now years later the pan has lasted rather than the five months or even five days previous frying pans owned lasted me.
Overall these excellent frying pans and worth the little extra that they cost as they last that much longer and give better results every time they are used.
Betterware is one of the many companies these days who will deliver items to your door that you pick from their catalogue. This catalouge is put through your door, and then collected on a day the distributor decides on.
The catalogue usually comes with an order form, so you can make an order if you wish, and then items are then bought to your door and you pay for them when they are delivered. This sounds nice and simple, easy service, but it never seems to be that way.
We hardly ever get a catalouge in my area, maybe once near christmas when people panic and get jobs with betterware to make some extra money (not a good choice!) and when we do, they always seem to want to pick the book up the next day! I have a life, and do not go looking through their catalouge the second it hits my door mat. I only once made an order, and this was because the person who dropped off the catalouge actually gave me 3 days before collecting it.
My order did arrive at my door, 3 weeks after I ordered it. I completley forgot what I had ordered until the guy came back to my door to deliver them to me! My order was ok though, everything I had ordered was there, and so far the items prove to be ok.
Most of the things in the betterware catalouge are things for the home, and mostly things you don't need, like carrier bag dispensers, or extra maginfying mirrors. Most items cost either a silly small price which makes you think the items won't last, or they cost stupid amounts and you know you can get them at better prices in many other places. It is best to look around when you are thinking of buying from Betterware, as the prices are a bit hit and miss, and some of the items just look tacky and as if they will just fall apart with one use.
They do have some nice things at christmas, like decorations and cards. They also do a nice selection of childrens personalised gifts, like books and towels with childrens names or initials on, and these are always nice for young children to get for christmas. They also do some personalized gifts for adults, like wallets, robes and mugs. Christmas probably is the best time to shop with betterware.
I once worked for betterware, as a distributor and it really was not worth they effort. I got hardly any orders for hours upon hours of work and no support from the "team" they were too busy trying to recruit more people.
If it is nearer to christmas, have a look at their stuff, but not too keen any other time of year.
I have shopped with Betterware occasionally when something catches my eye.
I have heard people mock good old Betterware quite a bit but I do have to say that they sell some natty little bits and pieces that you don't always see around.
Betterware tend to sell mainly household items under the categories Travel, Health and Beauty, Home living, Pets, Clothes storage, Cleaning, Bathroom, Laundry and Kitchenware.
Sometimes we get a catalogue left outside that we can order from. These are left by distributors and works on the same basis as Avon. The distributor leaves the catalogue outside and writes a note to say when they will be back to collect it. The customer then browses the catalogue and fills in the order form if they want anything. You then leave this out and the distributor fills the order and delivers it to you. Otherwise you can order by phone or the internet. You can pay for your items by cash, cheque or credit and debit cards.
Betterware offer a no-quibble 12 month guarantee period where if customers aren't happy with their product, can get a full refund or replacement. You can also return any unused products within 1 month for a refund.
In the past I have had some great little items from Betterware. I find they are good quality and very well priced. In the odd circumstance where an item was been faulty I have always been able to get my money or the replacement that they promise without any hassle and very quickly.
Their delivery charge is £3.95 or free if spending over £35 so it's great if a few of your are ordering. I really like it when companies offer a free delivery option, it shows they are willing to offer a small reward for loyal shoppers and those spending quite a bit with them.
Although Betterware is not one of my essential daily companies I buy from, I certainly wouldn't want to be without them. Look out for their offers and sales, they are usually very good value and offer a lot of different products for the home or to make life easier.
This company is a farce, yes it may be renound across the UK but ask yourself how often do you get a book? And is it always the same person bringing it to you?
I read the advert in the local paper and though that it sounded ideal, I could work around my young daughter and it would not interfere with the time I had with her. I was wrong.
What they forget to mention is that they expect that you work on average 30 hours a week putting the books out / in and then spend time over and above this preparing your books to put out and delivering any orders that you get.
When I started I was given 120 books because that was the standard amount. The expectation was that I would put the books out a minimum of 3 times a week. I was told that from these books I would make a profit of £100 per week as long as I did as they said. I tried this for a few weeks and found that I wasn't making anywhere near that, partly because if I didn't get all my books back after the first time then I couldn't put the required amount out in the week. I asked my area co-ordinator and the area manager to provide some more books but they said not until they came back the following week. That week I didn't even make £20 profit and I was working all in for over 40 hours. I hardly saw my daughter and was so tired that I couldn't do anything with her when I did see her.
The company and its salaried staff are all far too money orientated and so they forget that if they do not give us the books, stationary & support we need to get the sales then we can't give them the sales and cant make anything for ourselves.
They then run what they call big week where they expect that with the same amount of books etc you do more work so that they make more when they get their bonus.
Another con was the bonus that they offered when you started, if you got I think it was £1,200 over you first 6 weeks then you would receive a bonus of I think £30. What they neglected to tell me was that if the co-ordinator hadn't done their job properly, as was the case with mine I lost my bonus because they didn't send my paperwork back in time.
The point of this is that it may be advertised as a part time job but it is anything but. You work every hour you can. Get no thanks and little or no money.
They should rename themselves: betterbeware 'cause we're more than happy to take all the work you put in but give you nothing back.
Don't be conned by the fact that they tell you there are no start up fees and that all books and stationary are free. The shoe leather you use in not.
We've all seen the adverts....they are either in the classified section of the local rag or they are slapped onto lamp posts, trees etc in the local area. "Earn Cash Now....Delivering Catalogues....£50 - £150 per week, call now" So as the type of person who always likes to earn extra cash I gave them a call.
I was visited several days later by the area manager, who went through the necassary paperwork and gave me an area to work in, he provided me with books and stationery and that was it, he left and said he would call a few days later to see how I was doing.
The first thing that dawned on me after he left was the fact he said I needed to write my name and phone number on each order slip, he'd given me 120 books, which mean't writing my name and number a minimum of 120 times.....god was I bored by the time I'd done this, it was now too late to put them out, so I put them to one side and waited till the next day.
The next day I planned my assault on the area the manager had given me, I put the books out and had marked that I would collect them 2 days later.
2 days passed and I went back to collect them with mixed results, some I got back after they had been left on the doorstep and so blown about and wet. Some I got back from little old ladies saying thank you but no thank you. Some I actually got some orders in. I received orders off these books of £76.23 which would bring me in a grand total of £15.25.
However, like a mad man, I persevered, each week I would put these books out at least twice, and received average sales of between £150.00 - £225.00, making me a maximum of £45.00.
I worked out the problem, firstly they were not providing me with enough area and secondly not enough books, to make the £150.00 they promised in their adverts I would have to bring in sales in excess of £750.00!!
If you fancy just earning a couple of quid extra for what amounts to a full time job then this is for you, otherwise steer clear!
I joined betterware many moons ago, and i have to say it was fatally flawed as a business. I gave the business my full attention for 5 months, but i made hardly any money from from it im afraid.
You dont pay anything to join, you have an informal interview with the main manager of the area. They seemed nice, but a little desperate to be honest. Anyhow the books were free, and it was free to join, so i thought i'd give it a try.
Betterware work on areas, and this is why it is so difficult to earn any money. I was given an area, and it was impossible to get any orders, i was given a few more areas, but still noone seemed to be buying. The catalogue is ok, but they give you no bags, so the book gets tatty with quickly, the orders can easily blow away and as they are free i found myself not always going back on the 3rd occassion to collect them.
The books are changed every month, and i was chucking out books left right and centre, it seemed ridiciulous and a waste of money and paper.
You could only order your items once a week, and with out of stocks, it was a pain in the neck. I was making about 20pounds a week! It was pathetic.
I eventually left, only to be asked did i want to become the regional manager! I didnt accept! I cant recommend this company, im a hardworker, but this business does itself no favours.
