Great product but has its time

Well just to be fair this model in particular introduced by dell was in between working progress or a flop. To start off by saying the keyboard is easy to use however very sensitive. Now in my opinion having a very sensitive keyboard is preferable as I enjoy touch typing but this view is very opinionated as for those that prefer something easier and more manageable to use this would not be one of my recommendations.

Secondly even just be looking at the image shown above, you can tell that the appearance is not what this computer was designed for? but it's spec is one of a kind and most of these newer models cannot match it by a far margin. Okay yes you can't upgrade it pass windows 8.1 but why follow the crowd when 8.1 pretty much offers you everything anyway.

To be honest if you don't and in the future will not work in design, this computer was meant for you; it's simplistic, realistic and still has everything other new models have, for those that want something simple this is your new friend. Perfect for business and leisure plus with the additional software needed I.e: Microsoft office this is would be my first choice.

Now everything has it's downside and all I can say is the programs may be a bit slow and buggy at times but if you think about it overtime any electronic proves to flunk and fail. So if your looking for something that shares retro but modernised Dell latitude 3440 should be an option to consider.

      • "Very light"

      Disadvantages

      • "Not sure about the qualitt"

Good product but the quality might be a problem

This laptop is overall quite good, the keyboards are very sensitive and easy to use. The quality of display on the screen is very good. Not sure what happened to the cursor, whether I'm using the touchpad or a mouse, the cursor is very glitchy and slow. This could cause a huge amount of frustration and caused me to delay the time I hand in my work. The overall speed is very good, but takes three or four minutes to load a page, when the bars of wifi is full. The design is mediocre, it's not the prettiest but no so ugly. It's just for simple use. The sound system is very unstable, sometimes the sound is so quiet I have to set the volume to 100. Then all of a sudden the sound system works again and it gets very loud, so I had to set it a bit quieter. This was annoying as I was trying to watch an important video and then the sound system decided to mess up and I believe my next door neighbor heard it. I thought the size of the screen is perfect because it is quite big compare to thesize of the laptop. The laptop can get overheated so make sure you buy some kind of fan to go with it. Once I forgot to use my fan, the laptop got so over heated that it burning my hands (which were resting on the laptop.) At last the quality of the product is unsure. It was all fine one day and suddenly the laptop broke and I cannot fix it so I bought a new one.

Bit laggy but apart from that exceptional for home and business!

The Dell Latitude 3440 laptop has a simple sleek look, is light, has a great screen, very easy to set-up (even for a non-computer whizz such as myself), and overall is very user-friendly. The Dell Latitude 3440 is cheap and a bit bland-looking, but its powered by a class Intel processor, with a high-resolution screen so you can see clearly .The Battery time is great, and it has an on-screen reminder of when to plug it in for charging or to plug out the battery when full charge is reached. I would say this laptop would be perfect for someone who mainly needs it for browsing the internet, watching movies or playing games, or simply office work. The … feels solid, and packs a nice keyboard and a fair amount of battery life (up to 6 hours). You will obviously need Wi-Fi connection; the Laptop runs a Microsoft browser-based Windows OS, and while the operating system has come a long way your options are still limited once you're disconnected.
The Dell Latitude 3440 is based on the cheaper end of the spectrum. It is made out of plastic and weighs at a total of 1.2kg, which is not bad for a laptop; its definitely not heavy in my hands or when carrying it in a bag, so very good. You could say the laptop is stylish too: there's a shiny little finish bordering the track pad, and the keyboard buttons are arrange in a modern style to give you that eccentric look and feel when using the laptop

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Budget Laptop

The Latitude 3440 is designed for work rather than play, and that means its talents lie in certain keys areas: the Haswell processor delivers reasonable application and games performance and excellent battery life, and the keyboard and touchpad are excellent. It’s one of the slimmest and lightest machines in this group, too, but it’s also got the best build quality. The middling screen and speakers count against the Dell, but it excels in more key areas than any other machine.

A key aspect of the Haswell processor is the efficient design: its 15W TDP is two Watts lower than last year's Ivy Bridge parts and means better battery life.

The Latitude delivered reasonable battery benchmark result of 6hrs 51mins. It's a few minutes short of the Lenovo Yoga Pro 2 and and almost two hours better than the HP Elitebook 820 G1. However, it's no match for the ten hour lifespan of the Apple MacBook Pro 13in.

Dell intends the Latitude 3440 for business use, so we're pleased to report the 14in screen has a matte finish. This makes it easier to see under bright office lights than the glossy panels found on consumer notebooks. There's no touchscreen, and no option to upgrade to one - so if you're planning on installing Windows 8 in the future, be warned.

The 1,366 x 768 resolution is standard for this class of machine, but quality is mixed. The measured brightness level of 201cd/m2 is average, but the black level is poor - which means a contrast ratio of 291:1. It's bad and it means colours look washed out. There's little depth to the colour gamut, either, with blacks looking more like greys, and the average Delta E of 7.9 means colours aren't accurate.

Dell hasn't designed the Latitude 3440 to turn heads, but it's a subtly stylish laptop thanks to dark brushed metal used throughout. It's a sturdy machine, too, with little give to be found in the wrist-rest, lid and base. The Latitude is 25mm thick and weighs 2kg - not far off Ultrabook dimensions. It's an easy machine to toss into a bag without weighing you down.

Overall it could be said that this laptop is pretty ok.

An okay laptop based on your needs.

When I purchased Dell latitude 3440, I found out that it was money well spent. The Dell latitude 3440 is a laptop computer that has windows 7 as the default OS. It satisfied some of my needs. It is a very good handy machine that can be used in the office. It's display size is 14 inch LCD with a pixel density of 111 PPI, a resolution of 1366 x 768 px. It has an aspect ratio of 16:9. The image quality is decent and manageable (won't appeal to most gamers). The chip used in this computer is Core i5-4200U which clocked at 1.6GHz and it draws power of 15 Watts. it has an installed 4gb ram and has the capacity of adding up to 8gb ram. It came with a one year professional support and next business day on-site service and there is also upgrades. When I opened the case of the laptop which was secured with just one screw, it gave me access to the hard disk drive, wlan module, and the storage devices which gave me the assurance that should any of these components develop a fault, I have easy access to repair them. It has two USB 3.0 jack, 1 USB 2.0 jack, headphone and microphone socket, an SD card reader slot and a 500GB hard disk drive which should come in handy for office workers who will have to store huge files. I have used the system and so far I can say for sure that its design is compact, it is fast on account of its ram size but given its functionality and specs, it's price is a little bit steep.

      Disadvantages

laptop is very easy to setup

bought this laptop computer back in 2013. I actually have many laptop computers reception (mostly only for testing and when I sell them) however I required laptop which can be my primary work tool and not only for fun like looking at movies, looking the net, on-line looking, etc.

Does hollow Latitude fulfill my expectations? Lets have a more in-depth look.
The whole package enclosed the laptop computer, power cord, manual, a Recovery Medium for Windows eight and a CD with digital camera computer code.
The user will use between Windows eight professional, Windows seven Home Premium and Windows seven skilled in operation systems. I in person selected Windows eight professional simply because it suits Pine Tree State the simplest.
The case of this laptop computer is kind of nice, however the planning is nothing revolutionary innovative. it's created principally of plastic with some atomic number 13 surfaces (gives a metal look) and overall the laptop computer seems to be quite solid.
This hollow Latitude 3440 has VGA and Ethernal ports, 3 USB ports, however there's no HDMI port.
The black computer keyboard is incredibly comfy to use (there isn't any variety keypad), but it catches out dirt terribly simply. unremarkably I clean keyboards on my laptops once per 2 months, by this hollow Latitude 3440 i'm doing that just about weekly. it's quite sensitive to fingerprints too. The touchpad is incredibly correct and isn't too sensitive like different hollow models.
The show is incredibly bright and you'll be able to see quality pictures from several angles.
The speakers square measure in acceptable quality, however generally whereas looking at movies, the sound isn't utterly clear.

strong laptop with a great keyboard

I've owned this laptop for 3 years now and I got it as one of my first laptops and I have never really used or brought a Dell laptop before but I was quite impressed by it, although was no the best laptop in the world it got the job done and performed at a reasonable rate without a struggle. I found the screen resolution to be sufficient with a clear picture but without any HDMI ports it made it difficult to make a crisp picture which is something that Dell might focus on in the future. The build quality is extremely good, it is surprisingly strong and can even survive most falls without bits falling off and bits breaking which is a bonus and we all eventually drop our laptops no matter how hard we try. The Keyboard is what really impresses me, it has backlighting to prevent your eyes from straining to much when wring in the dark or staring at the screen for too long. Also the keyboard is surprisingly strong and durable which is a lot like the rest of the laptop, it is very reliable and durable and unlikely to break. And the trackpad on the keyboard is a very good sized and is also responsive and quick when i used it. But the speakers on the laptop produced a poor sound quality and the laptop is extremely heavy and is difficult to move which makes it very unlikely to be a portable laptop even so I still really like this laptop but I would suggest that it is a laptop for a first time buying and just to start you off but not someone who is looking for a more permanent laptop. And at £449.99 it's not a bad price.

This laptop is a very good office laptop, however nothing outstanding. I am sure some people like this device, however it is not for me. Mostly for the speakers. I am making a lot of video conferences and there I need that the sound is completely clear.
