“ Brand: Linea / Type: Scoop „
My husband enjoys drinking tea on a very regular basis and so it seems pointless to use teaspoons just once before they are washed. We had some creme brulees for dessert a long time ago, and my husband kept the little glass pots they came in, in case he could think of some use for them. We have been using one of them as a spoon rest for his teaspoons for a while, and whilst it did the job, I have been wanting to buy a proper spoon rest for ages, mainly because the glass pot isn't exactly pretty!
Price and availability:
Whilst doing some online shopping in the House of Fraser over a week ago, I spotted that their Linea spoon rests were all in the sale, and so I thought it was about time I treated myself to one! As far as I'm aware this particular spoon rest can only be purchased from House of Fraser, and I would imagine that they will have been available in the physical stores as well as online. However, I don't know whether or not they will be available to purchase once the current sale has finished. All I know is that there are only 3 of the cream coloured spoon rest left in stock, and so if you want one, then hurry! They were originally priced at £8, and have now been reduced to £4, which I think is a pretty good price for this product. If purchasing online, you get free delivery if you spend over £50, or you can collect this item from a store for free. If you spend less than £50, standard delivery costs £3, or there are other delivery options available with a higher cost, such as next day delivery and nominated evening delivery.
As mentioned earlier, I purchased this product online, and it arrived wrapped very well in tissue paper and another protective kind of material. It didn't come with it's own box or anything, and so I presume this would also be the case if you purchased it in store.
This spoon rest is available in cream, red, pale blue or black. I purchased mine in cream, in order to match my kitchen, and so it is cream all over. The other coloured spoon rests all appear to be white on the top part (where you place your spoon), with the sides of the spoon rest and underneath of the handle being the main colour (i.e. red, pale blue or black).
I didn't pay much attention to the description of this spoon rest and so when it arrived it was not at all what I was expecting! I presumed that it would be a little spoon rest to use for teaspoons, but how wrong was I! What it turned out to be was actually a much bigger spoon rest for much bigger spoons! The dimensions are given on the website, which are 25cm length and 11cm width, and had I read this, I would of known what to expect! After the initial thought of, oh that's not what I was expecting, I was pleasantly surprised about the size of this product, as it means that we are able to use it for cooking utensils as well as teaspoons, which means less washing up, less mess on the worksurfaces, and therefore a much happier me! It really is a great size product that comes in very useful when cooking.
Other details and my thoughts:
The spoon rest is ceramic, the website advises that it is dishwasher safe, and it is a much nicer thing to look at than the free glass pot we were using before. It looks shiny and feels smooth to touch and I think it looks expensive and well made, especially with it's curved handle. I have only had it for just over a week but so far it has been regularly used and washed every day and still looks as good as new, and I'm hoping this will be the case for a long time. It is such a useful thing to have in the kitchen and I'm so glad I purchased it. Highly recommended.
